Among these methods, one of the most preferred is the placement of intragastric balloon. The purpose of intragastric balloon operations during which no surgical intervention is made, is to shrink the stomach. For this, a specially manufactured inflatable balloon is placed into the stomach. The period for which the gastric balloon is left in the stomach varies according to features of the individual patient. Maximum period is twelve months.
Although intragastric balloon placement is not a surgical operation, it is not an operation that can be performed arbitrarily. Therefore, clients must meet certain criteria.
